The festival of Asom Divas or Sukapha Divas is celebrated annually  on December 2 every year. The Asom Divas was first celebrated in Assam in 1996 to commemorate the arrival of the founder and first king of the Ahom Kingdom, Chaolung Sukapha.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on October 2 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who is also known as the ‘Father of the Nation’. This year will be the 152^nd  birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji was one of the leading figures of India’s freedom movement. To mark his contributions to India’s Independence,  every year his birth day is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti.

India gained freedom from British rule on August 15, 1947. Since then our country has been celebrating Independence Day on August 15 every year. This year India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day. The theme for this year's Independence  Day is ' Nation First, Always First '.
